In which Mike Comment-whores for Pooh - Er, I mean Eeyore
Edward T. Bear doesn't allow comments on his blog.
I do.
He has written an exceptional article about the US actions in other countries. It is truely exceptional. Please read "Italian Courts, Rattlesnakes, and Atomic Bombs."
Then come back here and comment.
Update:
My bad. The article was penned by Eeyore. Thanks to Pretty Shaved Ape for pointing out my blunder. Anyway, read it and add comments.

one note, i believe it was eeyore who penned this, the best blog post i've read in some time and thanks for offering to whore. regardless, it is exactly the sort of writing that grabs one by the ear and marches you toward revelation (not the hallucinogenic chapter of the bible kind). this post should be required reading for all of the yellow elephants and ugly americans clinging to the delusions of the boosh regime. cheers and thanks to blank out times, some of the best that blogistan has to offer.
Mike: I read this yesterday and felt, like you do, that it was a great post. I'm so glad you allowed comments about it here.
Eeyore: If you don't mind, you need to write more often. I have to say though, that the Italian gov't shames our own. Canada should have taken a stance akin to theirs over Maher Arar. In our case, it's even worse because Mr. Arar is not charged with anything -since he is NOT A TERRORIST. I realize he was deported from the States and not kidnapped from here...but still...it's a national embarrassment what happened to him, and the response of the Canadian gov't has been horribly inadequate and possibly even complicit.
so few comments on such a great post, alas. anyway, i am pleased to find such excellent company here and i must add that princess monkey's recent massive thread on canadian healthcare issues was superbly handled. all i can say is that if i ever need major medical help i hope that i am given to the care of someone as thoughtful and intelligent as she. and yes eeyore, do write more, the net need you. cheers from another simian canadian blogger!
Eeyore is, of course, correct. Cheney, Bush et al have introduced an unconstructive hostility into US foreign relations that has been picked up by a number of GOP supporters. Bullying allies and the UN creates an uncooperative international community. A leader that wants to support the US must face an annoyed population that is in no mood to support America at this time. The US is rich, and militarily powerful, but international activities with little, if any, international cooperation are going to be both militarily and economically expensive.
As Eeyore says, alienating allies, making threats and invading countries might feel good for those who are safe-and-sound at home, but exactly what does it accomplish? One thing that it does not accomplish is to make anyone safer.
Thanks Pretty Shaved Ape - I appreciate you sharing your opinion on the healthcare post - especially cause it was favourable. Personally, I don't shave - baldness would only distract from my tiara :)
A very good article. Thank you for pointing me to it.
Eeyore,
As I re-read the article a sudden, chilling thought occured to me. Ballistic Missle Defense isn't about North Korea or even Russia. Its about trying to protect the US from it's former Allies like France (and possibly later on , Britain) who do have the capabilities this would guard against. And why would they need that? To continue the unilateralism and Empire building of GWB with almost impunity.
Perhaps they have some other adventures up their sleeve...
Mike: I read your comment as the CBC was talking about plans for deeper integration (economic) with the States. What a friggin nightmare. I'm never having kids.
No, PM have as many as you like. And Raise them to respect others and be fair. Nothing gets you active as knowing that some idiot in another country (and a few here in our own) want to have almost perpetual conflict so they can line their pockets - thus threatening the future of your children.
If not for my two (and one more due in December) I might not be as active. But in order that I give my children a better world than the one I was given, I have to fight.
Well Mike: Congratulations on your little winter - time bundle :) :)
You're right of course. What can I say? It was a weak moment. It was the ol "overwhelming evil forces against little old me" syndrome. It comes and goes...usually goes. I am fully committed (eventually) to helping carry forward my husband's good looks. I too like to leave things better than I find them.
